Spine with five raised bands, gilt-decorated compartments with floral vignettes and two morocco labels with gilt title. Marbled endpapers. Marbled edges. = Main work of the French astronomer and geographer François Robert (1737-1819). The first 292 pages deal with the earth's geography, as known in the 1790's, arranged by continent, the second 92 pages contain the Traité de la sphere, with the plates illustrating basic planetary movements and observations. Although the third volume of a series it seems to be complete in itself. Inscribed on the front flyleaf verso, and on the title page ("Mme. Alexandre"). Boards a bit rubbed but in all a very good copy. Rare.
