Original blindstamped cloth. Gilt title and vignette on the spine. = This is Vol. VII (archaeology) of Report upon the United States geografical surveys west of the one hundredth meridian by G.M. Wheeler. Profusely illustrated. Most plates show tools, including primitive 'stone-age' types, jewellery, pottery, etc., etc. The full colour frontispiece, however, shows the performance of an ancient dance. This book is usually found "ex library", with stamps, etc., but this copy is a rare exception. Some shelfwear, else a very good, clean copy. Nissen ZBI, 4756.
