Later blue boards, with paper label on front board. = Thesis of Pierre Dufresne (1786-1836) on this medically important group of plants (especially in treatment of insomnia), dedicated to Augustin-Pyramus De Candolle, and to the author's father Claude, and his uncle whose name was also Pierre. With detailed descriptions of the species. According to Stafleu & Cowan, De Candolle's genus Dufresnia was named after Pierre. Some names of valerian species may originate from this work.
