Description: Leiden, Ministerie van Koloniën (J. Boeke), 1919. 4to. xxxiv, 351 pp.; 69 text figures (mainly fine engravings, a few photos). Original printed wrappers. = Three papers based on the collection made by J. Boeke. The major work, with its own index, and an addendum, is the "Report on the fishes" J. Metzelaar. This work is nicely illustrated with text engravings and contains a surprizing number of new genera and species, including some from West Africa. It is preceded by a general introduction of the marine fauna of Curaçao, and a list of over 300 fishes collected around the island, with, when present, their names in Dutch and/or Papiamento (the local language). The paper by Rathbun on stalk-eyed crustaceans, also has some new species. The last paper, by Richardson, is merely a check list. With a preface by J. Boeke. Text is in English, except for the first 34 pp. Ex library copy with small stamp cancelled on title page and little mark on cover. Otherwise a very good, complete copy.
