Spine wirg five raised bands; compartments with gilt borders and two morocco labels with gilt title. Edges speckled red. = A detailed paper by Duvernoy on the dental development and morphology in mammals, and in particular in the insectivore mouse-like Soricidae, or shrews. This is the complete volume 9 of the Mémoires presentes par divers savants a l'Academie royale des Siences, with 715 pp. and eight plates in all. Other papers are mathematical, on fluids, and on the development of moths. Bookplate on front pastedown. Wear to spine, especially at head and foot; boards nearly detached. Contents very good with just an occasional spot.
