Author: Roughley, T. C. Title: Fishes of Australia and their technology.
Description: Sydney, William Applegate Gullick, 1916. 4to (24.5 x 18.1 cm). xvi, 296 pp., full colour frontispiece. 70 full colour plates, all after watercolours of A. Murray. Original gilt decorated cloth with bevelled edges. Pictorial endpapers. = An important book on the fishes of Australia and its surrounding waters, published as Technical Education Series volume 21. "Technology" must have been a buzzword in the 1910's - actually this is a very well illustrated guide with for each species information on its food, method of capture, edible qualities, supply (e.g. on the Sydney fish markets), and a systematic description. A fews small defects: tear in spine cover and rear hinge, perforated stamp on title page, small library stamp on plate versos (not shining through). Otherwise clean. In all a good copy. Nissen ZBI, 3486.
