Original printed wrappers. = A litlle-known regional Flora - not in Stafleu and Cowan - which is very well illustrated with lithographs - a very late example of this printing method. It deals with the tropical flora of Portuguese Guinea, now Guinea Bissau, on the Atlantic coast of central Africa. Published as the first volume of the society's Memórias. The author, Antonio de Figueiredo Gomes e Sousa was subject of a recent paper in Bradleya by E. Figueiredo et al., (2017) "Notes on António de Figueiredo Gomes e Sousa, a near-forgotten collector of succulent plants in Mozambique". The refer to him as Gomes e Sousa, A. de Figueiredo. Tiny stamp in front wrapper top margin; front wrapper chipped at edges, rear wrapper missing. The text and plates, both on much better paper, in good condition.
