Description: London, Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, 1853. 4to (24.6 x19.3 cm). With four folded, engraved and partly coloured oblong tables (approximately 24.5 x 67.0 cm). Original textured cloth with mounted printed title. = Rare tabular views of British fossils, mainly molluscs. The four views are divided as follows: Palaeozoic or Primary, one chart with Silurian, Devonian, Carboniferous and Permian in four different colours; Mesozoic or Secondary, on two charts with the Triassic, Oolitic, Waelden, and with the Cretaceous, both in four different colours; and Cainozoic or Teriary with the Eocene, older Pliocene, and Pleistocene in one colour. Alle plates are engraved by the author. Library stamps of the Liverpool geological Association on the linen versos, title and front paste-down signed "I. A. Ridgway". Plates detached, some spotting on the linen versos, otherwise a very good copy. Not in Ward and Carozzi.
