Description: Washington, DC, Smithsonian Institution, 1928-1943. Seven volumes in seven. 2,643 pp.; 49 plates. Original uniform printed wrappers. = A rare complete set. Published as United States National Museum Bulletin 100, volumes 7-8, 10-13, and 14(2). There are some minor variations in the wording of the titles as given above, but all titles contain more information on which groups are covered, as follows. 7 (1928): The fishes of the families Pomacentridae, Labridae, and Callyodontidae; 8 (1929): The fishes of the series Capriformes, Ephippiformes, and Squamipennes; 10 (1930) The fishes of the families Amiidae, Chandidae, Duleidae, and Serranidae; 11 (1931) Pseudochromidae, Lobotidae, Pempheridae, Priacanthidae, Lutjanidae, Pomadasyidae, and Teraponidae; 12 (1933): Banjosidae, Lethrinidae, Sparidae, Girellidae, Kyphosidae, Oplegnathidae, Gerridae, Mullidae, Emmelichthyidae, Sciaenidae, Sillaginidae, Arripidae, and Enoplosidae; 13 (1941) The groups Elasmobranchii, Holocephali, Isospondyli, and Ostarophysi...obtained...in 1907 to 1910; 14(2) (1943): Descriptions and figures of new fishes. The first three papers are jontly written, with Bean as junior author, the others are by Fowler alone. Uncut, mostly unopened. Library stamp on all but the first two covers, otherwise a very good, clean set.
