Title: Recherches sur l'evolution morphologique des Alpes de Transylvanie (Karpates meridionales).
Description: Paris, C. Delagrave, 1907. Large 8vo (22.3 x 17.6 cm). [xi]-xxi, 288 pp.; 11 photographic plates (tissue-guarded); three large, multi-folded maps (two coloured); 91 text illustrations. Contemporary pebbled half morocco over marbled boards. Spine with five raised bands and gilt title. Marbled endpapers. = An important, well illustrated and well-bound contribution to the geology and geomorphology of the Karpathian Alps, and Transsylvania. Written by the French geographer, and former president of the International Geographical Union, Emmanuel de Martonne (1873-1955). This is the author's thesis, which was submitted on 29 November, 1906. According to the index on p. 281, the bibliography occupies pages I-XV, but in fact there are 11, not 15 pages, and these are numbered up to xxii. Nevertheless, it is clearly complete, listing 176 numbered papers, starting with 1. Some rubbing to the joints, otherwise a very good, clean and unmarked copy. Seldom seen, especially in such a good state. Not in Ward and Carozzi.
