Philip is best known as an ornithologist. Well-illustrated. The engravings, by the famous Dutch natural history artist Joseph Smit (1836-1929) are excellent. Included are, e.g. the giant panda (under another, then far better known name, the tasmanian wolf, etc., etc.). Uncut. Front and rear free endpaper a little bit foxed. Otherwise a fine copy. Rare in this state.
