In original pictorial dust jacket. = First edition. Dedicated by the author on the half-title, signed and dated 15.4.'37. The "Polar Army" of 40.000 russian pioneers, men and women, opened the northern part and coast of eastern Siberia. The dust jacket contains a slightly different title: 40,000 against the Arctic. Russia's Polar empire, and adds: "An amazing human story of people in modern towns with factories, aeroplanes & orchards next door to Polar bears & wil reindeer". Dust jacket edges slightly worn, otherwise very good. An originally inscribed copy, such as this one, is rare.
