Original printed wrappers. = Part of the results of a Norwegian scientific expedition. This part on the history, and the (dredging) equipment, written by C. Wille, the captain of the research vessel, the steamer Vöringen. A map shows the complete itinerary, from Stavanger in Southern Norway, west to the Far Oer, Iceland, back east to Norway, up to Jan Mayen, back east to Norway, and furter zigzagging towards the North, to Beeren Island and further to Spitsbergen. Bilingual, with text in two colums: Norwegian and English. Provenance: front wrapper inscribed in the top margin, A. F. Marion. probably the French naturalist and geographer Antoine-Fortuné Marion (1846-1900). His portrait was painted by Paul Cézanne around 1871 (Wikipedia). Binding perished; front wrapper trimmed. Otherwise a very good copy.
