Title: Mémoires pour servir à l'histoire physique et naturelle de la Suisse. I. [All published].
Description: Lausanne, Mourer, Paris, de Bure, 1788. 8vo (19.1 x 12.2 cm). viii, 296 pp.; folding table, three large, folded, engraved plates. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards. Spine with gilt ornamental bands and two morocco labels (red and green) with gilt title. All edges red. = Start (and end) of a periodical on Swiss natural history. Deals mainly with Swiss flora, with plates depicting plants such as "Trefles" and "le Genet de Haller", written by the first editor, the Swiss botanist Jean Louis Antoine Reynier (1762-1824). The last paper, written by his co-editor, the Swiss geologist and chemist Henri Struve (1751-1826) is on minerals. Some light wear to board and spine edges; endpapers and half-title partly toned in corners due to the glue used in binding, but otherwise an excellent, clean copy in an attractive binding.
