Black morocco label with gilt borders and title. = This is the German translation of the famous "l'Art d'exploiter les mines de Charbon de terre" by the French medical doctor, chemist and geologist Jean François Clément Morand (1726-1784). The fine, pictorial plates show cross sections of mining operations, fossils, etc. The title page is little informative and may in fact be a half-title. A real title page probably was never issued, perhaps because this translated edition was never completed. At least part of the original French edition dates from after 1772. A very good, clean copy. Ward and Carozzi, 1607 (French edition).
