Title: Contribution à l'étude de l'appareil circulatoire des crustacés Edriophthalmes marins.
Description: Paris, A. Hennuyer, 1881. 8vo. 175 pp.; 12 chromolithographed plates. Original printed wrappers. = This thesis was dedicated to the French zoologist Félix Joseph Henri de Lacaze-Duthiers (1821-1901 or - according to Nissen ZBI, p. 238 - 1902). Loosely inserted is a handwritten sheet, being the manuscript of a review of Delage's paper, probably by Lacaze-Duthiers. Yves Delage (1854-1920) "...was a French zoologist known for his work into invertebrate physiology and anatomy. He also discovered the function of the semicircular canals in the inner ear. He is also famous for noting and preparing a speech on the Turin Shroud, arguing in favour of its authenticity. Delage estimated the probability that the image on the shroud was not caused by the body of Jesus Christ as 1 in 10 billion" (Wikipedia). Uncut. The plates on thicker paper, are slightly larger than the text, and the spine is split at their joint. Wrappers toned and edges frayed and a chipped, as to be expected, otherwise a very good, near spotless copy. Not in Nissen.
