Later full cloth with printed paper label on the spine. Original printed wrapper bound in. = Important monograph of the fossil mastodonts of Europe. It contains careful, elaborate comparisons of nominal species, and includes the description of one new species. The plates show many, often beautifully preserved bones, skulls, tusks and molars. Published in the series, Denkschriften des k. k. naturhistorischen Hofmuseums, Band I. The preface is dated "Oktober 1914" to which a footnote is added that printing started in 1916. Apparently the publication was much delayed due to WWI. A very good, clean, bound copy. Not in Nissen ZBI.
