Contemporary style half morocco over marbled boards. Spine with gilt ornamental bands and title. Marbled edges. = One of the major contributions to mineralogy by the German geologist and mineralogist Johann Gottlob von Kurr (1798-1870). The engraved plates show different crystal forms, including drawings of how to make three-dimensional models. The elongate hand-coloured plate depicts the 'System der Collins du Bocage, Niederländisches and Rheinisches System, System der Pyrenäen, Westalpen, etc.', and the 'Idealer Durchschnitt der Erdrinde nach Buckland und Webster'. Carefully bound. Repaired paper cut outs in the title page and dedication page fore margin, otherwise a very good, clean copy. Ward and Carozzi, 1303 (2nd edition of 1844).
