The original edition is very rare. Cat. BM(NH) mentions two volumes only. The volumes are divided in the following subsections: Geognostische Beschreibung des Bayerischen Alpengebirges und sein Vorland; Geognostische Beschreibung des Ostbayerischen Grenzgebirges oder der Bayerischen und Oberpfälzer Waldgebirges; Fichtelgebirges mit dem Frankenwalde; Dem westlichen Vorlande Fränkischer Alb (Frankenjura) mit dem anstossenden Fränkischen Keupergebiete.
