Contemporary half calf over marbled boards. Spine with gilt lines and title. Speckled edges. = Rare monograph by the eminent German geologist Gustav von Leonhard (1816-1878). The five hand-coloured plates show porphyry layers, some in 12 different colours. The two other lithographs show views. These are on slightly shorter leaves. Some scattered foxing in the text, the plates are clean.
