Original wrappers with printed paper label on the spine. = The rare first edition of an early monograph on dung and manure and their effect upon plants and thus an early soil science item. Frédéric Guillaume Maurice (1750-1826) translated a work of the Irish physicist and president of the Royal Irish Academy, Richard Kirwan (1733-1812), and added his own comments and explications. A second, more common edition, was published in 1806. Uncut. Wrappers (therefore) frayed and a bit chipped, especially at the spine head and foot, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
