With a portrait frontispiece of Paley to the start of volume I. William Paley was an English clergyman, Christian apologist and utilitarian. He is best known and remembered for his natural theology exposition of the argument for the existence of God. In this work he used his famous watchmaker analogy. In uniform tooled calf bindings. Externally, sound with slight rubbing to the spines and joints. Rubbing is heaviest at the head and tail of joints and spines. Bumping to the extremities. Front hinge to volume I is tender. Prior owner's signature to the title page of all volumes. Crack to the tail of front joint to volume II. Cracks to the rear joint of volume II. Hinge to volume II are tender. Cracks to the joints of volume V resulting in small losses. Backstrip to volume V is lifting slightly at the bottom. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright with scattered spots to the first and last few pages. Instances of the odd light spots throughout. Very Good . Ill.: Various. Very Good .
