Including the novel The Little Minister published by Cassell, and three collections of Barrie's plays published by Hodder and Stoughton: The Twelve-Pound Look and Other Plays, The Old Lady Shows Her Medals (which also includes the plays The New Word, Barbara's Wedding, and A Well-Remembered Voice), and Dear Brutus. The books are undated, but all are c1920 - 1930. Chiefly renowned as the creator of Peter Pan, Sir James Matthew Barrie (1860 - 1937) produced many critically acclaimed works of prose and for stage. The social commentary that Barrie wove through the Peter Pan fantasy is also apparent in these works, while the theme of an ageless child recurs in Dear Brutus. In blue cloth bindings with printed labels to front boards and spines. Externally smart, with just slight bumping, particularly to head and tail of spines. Spine labels discoloured and spines faded. Occasional marks to boards. Internally, generally firmly bound, although hinges to one volume are strained. Previous owner bookplate to front pastedown of two volumes. Foxing to first and last few pages of most volumes, but pages otherwise clean and bright with just the occasional spot. Ink signature to front free-endpaper of one volume. One volume has had front free-endpaper removed and previous owners' address embossed on first blank page. Very Good . Ill.: Various. Very Good .
