With forty plates, collated complete, as well as over one thousand illustrative vignettes, the collection here takes a detailed look at Britain's towns, villages, countryside and larger urban areas, with historical notes, diagrams and other information, such as notes on local folklore, famous figures and customs. Decoratively bound in attractive red cloth binding, the volumes makes for an interesting insight into Britiain in the Nineteenth Century, with areas reflected upon that would change dramatically in the subsequent hundred years. In decorative cloth binding with gilt detailing. Externally smart, there is some wear to the extremities, backstrips and joints, as well as the odd marking to boards. There is also the remnants of a small library bookplate to the board of volume four, and to the backstrip of volume one. Internally, the pages are firmly bound and are generally bright and clean, although there is foxing to endpages and occasionally in the main text block. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: None.
