Containing his miscellaneous works (in four volumes), and his life (in two volumes). Oliver Goldsmith (10 November 1730 4 April 1774) was an Anglo-Irish writer and poet, who is best known for his novel The Vicar of Wakefield (1766), his pastoral poem The Deserted Village (1770), and his plays The Good-Natur'd Man (1768) and She Stoops to Conquer (1771, first performed in 1773). He also wrote An History of the Earth and Animated Nature. WIth bookplate of Stratheden House to front pastedown. Complete in six volumes. In full calf bindings. Externally sound, though with some marks and some rubbing. One joint starting. Two hinges strained. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, with just some scattered light spotting and light foxing to the first and last few pages as usual. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
