A scarce three volume set of George Gordon's 'The Annals of Europe' dating from 1741 to 1745 A scarce set of George Gordon's The Annals of Europe for the years 1740 and 1743, and Volume II of 1739. Author details taken from COPAC. The Annals of Europe is a comprehensive, and extensive, account of the year, focusing on British and foreign affairs. It includes events such as the first meeting of Parliament, the passing or particulars of Bills, Petitions, and Addresses, choosing the Lord Mayor of London, and accounts of military engagements. The work also includes similar important pieces from other European countries. In half calf binding and marbled paper-covered boards, with gilt lettering. Externally worn. There is wear to the extremities, including bumping and rubbing, with some loss to the boards. The front board of 1743 is detached. The front and rear hinges of each volumes are strained. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages have some slight agetoning, with the occasional handling marks, and the odd spot. The odd watermark, none of which affect visibility of the text. There is an ink name-stamp on the title page of each volume, and 1739, and 1740 have an ink signature on page 1. Good Only . Ill.: None. Good Only .
