Ellis as "One of the most picturesque personalities of the nineteenth century." With William Herbert Peto's armorial bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume. Complete in three volumes. Rebound in cloth bindings with gilt lettering to the spines. Externally, light rubbing and bumping, with shelfwear, fading, and slight loss to the spines. All hinges are slightly strained. Internally, generally firmly bound, with some leaves working loose, and which is strained in places to volume two. Bright and generally clean, aside from the occasional spot. Good . Ill.: None.
