John Newton Chance - The Case of the Fear Makers

Title: The Case of the Fear Makers
Description: London, Robert Hale, 1967. First edition. Cloth. Publisher's cloth covered boards with silver lettering. A first edition which is complete with the original pictorial dust jacket. John Lymington (1911-1983) was born John Richard Newton Chance in London. He was a prolific writer of short stories, children's literature, mystery and science fiction novels. An obituary in Ansible Link credits Lymington with writing over 150 novels, adding that he 'made a steady income by delivering thrillers to Robert Hale (the publisher) at a chapter a week&apos. Lymington's first book, Wheels in the Forest, was written in 1935. He also wrote Night of the Big Heat in 1959. Several of his short stories were collected in The Night Spiders in 1964. Pseudonyms used by Lymington throughout his career included John Drummond, David C. Newton, Desmond Reid, and Jonathan Chance. In a cloth binding in the original dustwrapper. Externally smart. The binding is tight and firm and both covers are attached firmly. There is some mild wear to the extremities, including some bumping to the spine and corners. The dust jacket has some small chips to the edges, and some marks to the panels, but is not price clipped. Internally the book is clean and bright apart from some isolated spots affecting the front and rear end papers only. Good . Ill.: None. Good/Very Good.
