This work is Beza's Latin new Testament. This edition is closely cropped at the edges and therefore the date is hard to decipher. Date to spine states 1713. There are no 1713 editions published by Bowyer and sold by the Stationer's company on ESTC or Copac for 1713. Different title page but same sheets as 1725 edition published by Bowyer. William Bowyer was liveryman of The Stationers' and Newspaper Makers' Company and one of the twenty printers allowed by the Star Chamber. With the bookplate of one Betan W J Hall to front pastedown. Theodore Beza was a French protestant Christian theologian. He played a very important role in the Reformation. In a full calf binding with blind stamping to the board edges and spine. Externally, generally smart with patches of rubbing to the head and tail of spine and to the extremities. Bumping to the extremities. Prior owner's bookplate to front pastedown, Bryan Hall. Another prior owner's inscription to the front pastedown, William C Hall dated 1926. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned with scattered spots.
