In a half calf binding. Externally, worn, with some loss. Joints starting. Internally, generally firmly bound, although the half-title is working loose. The half-title and titlepage have each been pasted onto the following pages. Spots throughout, with light tidemarks to upper margins of first half of textblock, not affecting text. The half-title and titlepage have larger tidemarks. There are a number of closed tears, many of which have been previously professionally repaired. A number of pages have slight loss (notably p29, 121 and 155), sometimes affecting text. Rear pastedown worn. Copperplate ink signature of William Beech, Birmingham, to front pastedown.
