Description: London, Printed for the Author, 1774. Leather. A scarce volume of Bentley's poetry, printed by J. D. Cornish for the author. With a list of subscribers to the front. Very rare. The title page is decorated with an engraving by P. Mazell, an Irish artist known for his fine engravings of natural history subjects. In a half calf binding with paper covered boards. Externally, rather worn; with rubbing and marks, and some loss - particularly to the extremities. The hinges have been reinforced with cloth tape. Internally, the binding is strained in places; the pages are generally bright with scattered spotting and handling marks; there is a closed tear to the rear free endpaper, a little loss to the title page and the first two pages of text, and a closed tear to the front endpaper. With two ink copperplate inscriptions, one to the front free endpaper and one to the second endpaper; and an institutional paper bookplate adhered to the front pastedown, of Uttoxeter Literary & Scientific Institution.
