With The Characters of Theophrastus and A speech delivered upon his admission into the French Academy. A smart copy in the original 18th century binding in very good condition. This work is also supposed to have Of The Manner of Living with Great Men written after the method of M de La Bruyere by N Rowe. This work is to be at the rear of volume II, however this edition has been bound without, all that remains is the half-title page. Jean de La Bruyere was a French philosopher and moralist. This work is an English translation of some of his works. In full tree calf bindings with gilt stamping to spines. Externally, very smart with patches of rubbing to the spines and boards. Small amount of loss to the head and tail of spines. Lacking spine label to volume I. Rubbing to the extremities of boards to volume II. Prior owner's shelf label to the recto of front endpapers. Offsetting to endpapers at the edges. Internally, both volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright. Worming to the rear of volume II from page 205 onward. Worming is contained to the bottom margin and is worse to the final 10 pages, does not affect text. The occasional spots throughout. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
