Basil Hall - The Lieutenant and Commander: Being Autobiographical Sketches of His Own Career from Fragments of Voyages and Travels

Title: The Lieutenant and Commander: Being Autobiographical Sketches of His Own Career from Fragments of Voyages and Travels
Description: London, Bell and Daldy, 1862. Leather. A collection of autobiographical tales of life in the army from Basil Hall. Basil Hall was born in 1788 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Joining the Navy in 1802, he steadily rose to the rank of Captain. Encouraged by his father to keep a journal of his time at sea, these journals late became the source of his books. This particular work explores the authors own career in the army, with 'fragments' from his travel, voyages and experiences. An interesting autobiographical work from a eminent Naval Captain. In a quarter-morocco binding. Externally, sound, though with some dampstaining and rubbing to the extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound although strained in places. Front hinge is strained. Pages are bright, and generally clean, with just a few instances of foxing. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
