Author: Anonymous Title: Nineteenth Century Personal and Business Expenditure Ledger.
Description: London, Unknown, C1892-1900. Leather. A very scarce personal and business expenditure ledger, estimated to be dated from the years 1892-1900. Although anonymous, this is particularly notable as a document of London businesses in the late Nineteenth Century, many of which have since folded. Featuring longstanding establishments such as Debenhams and Freebody, as well as then-prosperous mainstays of London such as Marshall and Snelgrove of Oxford Street, Hitchcock Williams and Company of St Pauls and Stapley and Smith of London Wall, the ledger conveys a London in which family run, relatively niche, businesses could exist and thrive in the shadow of its most famous monuments and on its busiest streets. Contains bookbinder's label to pastedown. In reverse calf binding. Externally sound with some markings to boards and wear to backstrip and extremities. Internally, the binding is tender and are generally bright and clean throughout. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
