With errata page to the rear. The analysis is of Hooker's fifth book of Polity, originally published in 1597. Hooker's Lawes of Ecclesiastical Politie is his best-known work. It has been characterized as probably the first great work of theology and philosophy to be written in English. The work is a reply to the general principles of Puritanism. Richard Hooker was an English priest in the Church of England. He was one of the most important English theologians of the sixteenth century and was incredibly influential in his work. This analysis is written by Benjamin Kennicott, an English churchman and Hebrew scholar. In a full calf binding with gilt stamping to the board edges and spine. Externally, smart with rubbing particularly to the head and tail of spine. Some loss to head of spine due to rubbing. Joints are also subject to some rubbing alongside areas of the rear board.
