With a biographical introduction by the editor. Published as a part of the 'Lansdowne Poets' collection from Frederick Warne and Co. Felicia Hemans was a popular English poet. She began writing verse in her childhood, as early as eight. At the age of fifteen her first quarto of poetry was published and she has a subsequent eighteen books published. Hemans' poetry was considered to be morally exemplary and was often assigned to schoolchildren. In a full morocco binding with blind stamping to the board edges. Externally, generally smart with patches of rubbing to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Front joint is slightly strained but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of front endpaper, Alice February 14 1885. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age toned in places. Instances of the odd light spot throughout. Very Good .
