Jonas Hanway (August 12, 1712 September 5, 1786), English traveller and philanthropist, was born at Portsmouth, on the south coast of England. With a manual of devotion, comprehending extracts from the scriptures, prayers, hymns, religious poems, etc. Complete in two volumes. In quarter-calf bindings. Externally, rather worn, with substantial loss to the paper, rubbing, and some evidence of past worming to the rears. Paper to the pastedowns has lifted. Hinges are a little strained. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just the odd spot. Title page of volume II missing. Good Only . Ill.: None. Good Only .
