Georgiana Baroness Bloomfield - Reminiscences of Court and Diplomatic Life

Title: Reminiscences of Court and Diplomatic Life
Description: London, Kegan Paul, Trench & Co, 1883. Cloth. A third edition of this scarce autobiographical work by Georgiana Baroness Bloomfield, complete in two volumes. Georgiana Baroness Bloomfield was maid of honour to Queen Victoria. This work is an account of her career as a courtier and as the wife of a diplomat, detailing (with discretion and prudence) a simple account of the way in which the Queen's early married life was spent. However, although the author avoids gossip and malicious anecdotes of those in court, the text is an amusing and interesting account of balls and concerts, banquets and receptions, and general court life within the Victorian period. Collated, complete with a frontispiece and three monochromatic plates to each volume. In red cloth bindings. Externally, sound. Slight rubbing and bumping to head and tails of spines, resulting in small splits to the cloth. Ink marks to boards of Volume II. Joints starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with light spotting to the occasional page. Good . Ill.: Various. Good .
