Her writing was renowned for its sympathetic portrayal of (and insight into) children's lives, and for ardently reflecting Ewing's strong Anglican faith. Moreover, Ewing also worked as an editor of a number of magazines that published short stories for children, such as the 'Nursery Magazines', the 'Monthly Packet', and 'Aunt Judy's Magazine&apos.
