Limited edition, number 153 of five hundred copies printed. Printed to Van Gelder paper, as indicated by watermark to top of most pages, visible title page. A H Bullen's interest in Elizabethan dramatists and poets began at the City of London School. He then pursued a degree in classics at Oxford. Bullen was an expert on Elizabethan authors and poets, often lecturing at Oxford University. In a brown cloth binding with the title gilt stamped to the spine. Externally, very smart with a small amount of bumping to the head and tail of spine. Bookseller's label to front pastedown: Harrison Bookseller to the Queen 59 Pall Mall. Internally, generally firmly bound though strained in places. Offsetting to endpapers. Pages are bright. Van Gelder watermark to paper, most visible to title page. The odd spot throughout.
