Athelney is located between the villages of Burrowbridge and East Lyng in the Sedgemoor district of Somerset, England. The area is known as the Isle of Athelney, because it was once a very low isolated island in the 'very great swampy and impassable marshes' of the Somerset Levels. In a green cloth binding with gilt title detailing to spine. Externally, a trifle rubbed; with bumping to the extremities and some marks. Internally, the binding is tender in places. The pages are generally bright and clean, with spotting to the endpapers and the fore-edge. There is a close tear to the second front endpaper, and some loss to the top of the title page. There is an ink number inscription to the second front endpaper; a personal ink stamp to the front free endpaper; and an ink copperplate inscription to the front pastedown Good . Ill.: None. Good .
