Title: Alliterative Anomalies for Infants and Invalids with Coloured Illustrations
Description: London , Gay and Hancock Ltd. 1913. Cloth. An interesting alliterative text aimed at 'infants and invalids&apos. Illustrated throughout with a full page image per letter of the alphabet by William Hammond. Unfortunately disbound due to gutta percha binding, though appears complete. A scarce work. Contains some comical alliterative phrases from A-Z, with some rather complex language. The first page states 'A book containing decorous entertainment for general humanity including jingoes knaves lunatics, magistrates, nincompoops, oafs, politicians, quacks, reporters, sabbatarians, teetotalers, undergraduates, viceroys, welshers, xylocephals, yahoos, zealots&apos. In a quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart with some minor rubbing to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Some offsetting to endpapers. Internally, binding has failed with leaves disbound as usual. Leaf with the illustration of 'V' to the recto and text of 'W' to ther verso has been torn and is lacking the bottom half. Does not affect the 'W' text but does affect the 'V' illustration. Pages are generally bright with the odd spot throughout. Fair . Ill.: William Hammond. Fair .
