It sold over a million copies and with it Hocking become one of the most popular authors in England. With an engraved frontispiece after a painting by Lancel A. Speed. With neat ink inscription to recto of front free endpaper, dated 1906. In a full cloth binding with gilt detailing. Externally, smart with light shelfwear to extremities and some minor bumping to backstrip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean with only the very occasional handling mark.
