The History of Tom Jones, A Foundling is a comic novel by the playwright and novelist Henry Fielding. It is both a Bildungsroman and a picaresque novel. Alongside Samuel Richardson's Clarissa, Tom Jones is one of the first works of prose describable as a novel. Although the novel is lengthy, it is highly organised. Coleridge argued that it has 'three most perfect plots ever planned.' It is generally regarded as Fielding's greatest book. Frontispiece is slightly disbound at the bottom of page, otherwise firmly bound internally. Pages are very bright and clean. Near Fine . Ill.: Rowland Wheelwright. Near Fine .
