Although the editor of this edition attributes the work to William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, the author is now believed to be Nicholas Horsman (1654–1689), a Church of England clergyman from Devon. With a previous owner's copperplate inscription to title page; Benjamin Fisher. The 'Arguments' include The Gospel a Trumpet, Of Vows Made in Sickness and Adversity, Against Rash Judgement and Self-Knowledge a Cure For Our Pride. In a paper covered binding with protective slipcase. Externally, worn with marks to boards. Slipcase is generally smart with slight shelfwear. Internally, binding loosening in places with ten leaves detached but present. Institutional ink stamps to front free endpaper and to verso of title page with ink marks also. Generally bright and otherwise clean. VERY GOOD slipcase Good Only . Ill.: None. Good Only .
