In brown cloth bindings with gilt decoration. Externally sound, with a little rubbing and wear to the heads and tails of the spines. Marks to the boards. Bumping to the corners. Internally, generally firmly bound, although front hinge of volume II has failed and is detached from textblock. Ink signatures to front pastedowns.
