Matthew Arnold (24 December 1822 – 15 April 1888) was an English poet and cultural critic who worked as an inspector of schools. He was the son of Thomas Arnold, the famed headmaster of Rugby School, and brother to both Tom Arnold, literary professor, and William Delafield Arnold, novelist and colonial administrator. In a navy blue cloth binding with gilt lettering to the spine. Externally, generally smart. Boards are lightly rubbed in places. There is some minor bumping to the top and tail of the spine. Spine is also slightly sunned. There is an ink inscription to the verso of front free end papers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
