T. Decker - The Gull&Apos;S Hornbook

Title: The Gull&Apos;S Hornbook
Description: London, J. B. Gutch, 1812. Cloth. A satirical volume reprinted from the 1609 original publication, which parodies the behaviour of the young men of London in the early seventeenth century. 'The Gull's Hornbook' is one of Decker's best-known non-dramatic works. Thomas Decker, playwright and pamphleteer, is of obscure origins, and his own words are often the only source for personal details. An accomplished Latin scholar, he translated Fredriech Dedekind's Latin poem 'Grobianus' as 'The Guls Horne-Book' (1609). (DNB) In a green cloth binding. Externally, smart. Some minor shelfwear only. Institutional bookplate to front pastedown. Hinges have been reinforced. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with some mild age-toning only. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
