Sir Michael Foster a distinguished lawyer, was Recorder of Bristol from 1735 and the following year became a sergeant-at-law. This work was Foster's most influential, and is divided in to two parts. The first part contains a series of law reports referred to as Crown Cases, and the second, known as Crown Law, serves as a text book in English criminal law. The cases covered in this work refer to the second Jacobite rising of 1745. Rebound in a cloth binding with gilt detailing. Externally, in lovely condition. Internally, firmly bound.
