As, sadly, three different men held the post of Viscount Exmouth during the year 1833, there is no guarantee which Lady Exmouth this work was owned by. Pierre Etienne Louis Dumont, 1759 – 1829, was a French political writer. In 1788 Dumont visited Paris with Sir Samuel Romilly. During a stay of two months in that city he had almost daily intercourse with Mirabeau, and a certain affinity of talents and pursuits led to an intimacy between two persons diametrically opposed to each other in habits and in character. Dumont later renewed his friendship with Mirabeau, which culminated in the posthumous publication of his Souvenirs sur Mirabeau in 1832. In a half calf binding, with marbled boards. Externally, singed to the top of the spine leather, with slight loss. The joints are just starting. Internally, firmly bound, with the occasional mark or spot. There is a light tidemark to the fore-edge margin, that does not affect the text. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
